Each of our language sections deliberated as to the appropriate time between the (re)administration of the same test to maintain test-retest reliability and determined that time to be one year. Retaking a Placement Exam before a year has passed has been shown to erode the reliability of the results, placing students into courses that they are unable to successfully complete or into courses that are not a good fit for them or for other students in the course.
